Designed with the assistance of avalanche rescue teams in New Zealand the Helidog Lifting Harness is built to allow dogs to be lifted safely and comfortably and to be able to work freely on the ground while wearing the harness.
Where conventional full-winching harnesses act more as 'slings' and can be cumbersome to operate with; and lighter built lifting harnesses hang the dog into straps and webbing under the belly that can place pressure on soft tissue and joints; the flexible and enclosed system of the HeliDog securely cradles the dog when being lifted and allows full freedom to move when on the ground.
The HeliDog balances the lifting points whether from the handle or metal D-Rings, and most importantly in emergency situations allows the dog to be working on the ground within seconds of landing at a site or disembarking the chairlift (we really wanted to crack a joke there about disembarking, but this is serious stuff so no jokes here!).
An enclosed harness design secures the dog fully, distributes bodyweight evenly and minimises pressure on joints and soft tissue
Stow away hip support straps take pressure off the hip joints in long lift situations
Aluminium spine stiffening rod can be inserted for extra structure if required
Can be used in winching, lifting and on-the-ground, with minimal interference to the dog's movement
Fastenings and lifting points (excluding handle) are all stainless steel
Generously sized lifting handle is designed to be used with gloves
Standard colour is red with black detail but this skin can be customised by special arrangement
Inner mesh liner gives a smooth, light layer next to fur for comfort and protects the internal structure.
3M High Gloss reflective tape detail with additional reflective piping for visibility
Easy to care for, durable, flexible and surprisingly light in weight

The Secret Sauce
The secret-sauce of the HeliDog design is the three layer structure of liner, web skeleton-frame and outer skin. The liner is intended for comfort and protection of the inner-skeleton layer.
The middle layer is a frame of webbing that provides the internal structure of the harness. This light, strong and supportive skeleton gives support front-to-back and around the body. Also forming this inner layer is a 5mm closed cell foam piece within the chest/belly panel that helps cradle the dog and take pressure off the soft tissue when being lifted.
All of this is wrapped in a fabric 'skin' to provide additional support and structure with external webbing used to reinforce the fabric skin and mount the lifting points. A removable stiffening rod and hip support are enclosed within the outer layer to be used as and when required.
